Manuel Riesco Office

Global Economic Insight. Independent. Analytical. Impactful.

Our Mission

At Manuel Riesco, we aim to decode the global economy with integrity and clarity. We provide fact-based commentary and critical analysis of markets, trends, and public policy. By bridging academia, activism, and practical insight, we help build a more economically informed world — one article at a time.

Policymakers & Researchers

Read down-to-earth, thoroughly-evidenced economic criticism and worldly data analysis to aid intelligent government.

Educators & Students

Our clear, jargon-free analysis can be used to supplement teaching materials and research projects.

Global Citizens & Activists

Learn the influence of economic systems on justice, labor, environment and everyday life. Acquire resources to be more critical and meaningful.

What We Cover

1. Global Markets & Macroeconomics

Whether it is inflation and changes to GDP, or the policies of central banks and trade wars, we monitor and explain the trends that characterize the global economy's performance.

2. Inequality, Debt, and Redistribution

We examine structural economic imbalances, including wealth inequality, sovereign debt, labor exploitation, and their long-term impacts on social and economic well-being.

3. Public Policy & Development

What is the influence of policies on real life? We explore taxation, welfare, housing, education, and public investment and provide insights on the ways governments can serve people better.

4. Fiscal & Monetary Reform

Exploring modern monetary theory (MMT), alternative fiscal strategies, and new models of the economy that have been challenging the mainstream.

5. Sustainable & Inclusive Growth

We promote a different type of development, the one that combines sustainability, equity, and human well-being with extractive growth and unlimited consumption.

Our Values

We are unaffiliated with political parties, corporate interests, or lobby groups. Our only agenda is the public good.

We think that economics should serve the many, not the privileged few, and we hold the institutions accountable. We are non-partisan, non-corporate, and non-lobbyist.

We prioritize diverse voices—especially from underrepresented regions—such as our branch, which rents office space in Bryanston, as well as diverse perspectives in global economic discourse.

Real Conversations, Not Clickbait

We don’t chase headlines. We invest in context. Every article is written by experts with a deep understanding of the systems they critique — designed to inform, not inflame.

“Without context, numbers can mislead. At Manuel Riesco, our commitment is to clarity over convenience, substance over sensation.”
— Editorial Board

“Good economics doesn’t sensationalize — it clarifies. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to.”
